The lyrical and philosophical ramblings will take you on a journey unlike any other。 It can be slow reading for some, but if you read to satisfy your curiosity about the world then you should enjoy this book。 Warning! There are several gruesome parts related to wild animals eating and some cannibalism。 I skimmed those parts with no loss to the understanding or enjoyment of the story。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 El Libro tiene una gran narrativa de los hechos, te imaginas esos paisajes hermosos y demás situaciones que vivió Pi, aún así siento que fue mucha introducción a la religión para darle un final tan simple y sin una conclusión por parte del narrador。

I absolutely love this book! There is so much emotion and beauty in the writing。 Considering the majority of the book is spent in the ocean with nothing but a tiger I WAS HOOKED! Defo a top 10

Wonderfully written。 Both funny and sad, I enjoyed this book very much。 I’ve never seen the film, and after enjoying the book so much I don’t think I ever will。

Livre absolument incroyable! I didn't like this book。 I think it was just too weird for me。Isn't that horrible?Maybe if the first third of the book (which seems pretty unrelated from the next two-thirds of the book!!) had been sprinkled in the rest of the book。。。 maybe if I hadn't been irritated by the fact that Pi was practicing three mutually exclusive religions。。。 maybe if I hadn't found the flashbacks and flash forwards confusing。。。Confirmed, however: I'll never be a survivalist because I would die in 0。2 seconds。 I didn't like this book。 I think it was just too weird for me。Isn't that horrible?Maybe if the first third of the book (which seems pretty unrelated from the next two-thirds of the book!!) had been sprinkled in the rest of the book。。。 maybe if I hadn't been irritated by the fact that Pi was practicing three mutually exclusive religions。。。 maybe if I hadn't found the flashbacks and flash forwards confusing。。。Confirmed, however: I'll never be a survivalist because I would die in 0。2 seconds。 。。。more

This is a deeply philosophical book and I don’t think I was in the right groove to appreciate it fully。 Was somewhat enjoyable but plan on rereading in the future to get the full value! I like the theme of “if a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it”。 It’s an I retesting discussion。 I think maybe at different times in your life you’ll think differently about this question。。。 i also wonder if it’s related to optimism vs cynicism as well。

It is a bit repetitive, like a lot of the review say, but it’s because it’s a surprisingly old fashioned book。It’s fascinating to find a book written in the last decade that embodies so well the spirit of Robinson Crusoe in its narration。The end was what made it deserve the fifth star for me, the admission of an unreliable narrator, the introspective turn, that did it for me

The idea that Christians would love this book misses one of Christianity's major theological points。。。This is a post-modernist novel for the post-truth age; that truth is irrelevant if the story is not good。 Pity neither story was that good; and certainly not one to make you believe in God (ironic, then, that I already do)。 However, there are some beautiful passages and at its heart is a whimsical adventure story。 Remove the philosophising and it's not so bad, really。 The idea that Christians would love this book misses one of Christianity's major theological points。。。This is a post-modernist novel for the post-truth age; that truth is irrelevant if the story is not good。 Pity neither story was that good; and certainly not one to make you believe in God (ironic, then, that I already do)。 However, there are some beautiful passages and at its heart is a whimsical adventure story。 Remove the philosophising and it's not so bad, really。 。。。more

I liked this more than the reviews on here seemed to suggest I might! The first segment of the book I (unpopularly it seems) quite enjoyed and felt the second half was prone to dragging a little。 A really interesting concept and a good book, with fluid prose and a compulsively readable nature。 I also liked the play on reality and fiction with the beginning author's note。 On the other hand, I wasn't so much a fan of the odd ending and philosophizing - I think I'd have just preferred it as a stand I liked this more than the reviews on here seemed to suggest I might! On the surface, Life of Pi is a fun and somewhat innocent journey of survival, fear, hope, and all emotions in between。 The story does seem to drag just a little bit, and even seems a little tedious in the middle of it。 It isn’t until you finish the book that the darker, more complex aspect of the story is revealed which makes for a more layered and memorable story。
